The Grove on Bald Hills Road was planted in 1998 behind the grand old river red gums that define our Region.
We focus on producing fine Extra Virgin Olive Oil and complement that with table olives, infusions, and home-made dressings and dukkah with local ingredients.
As part of the Adelaide Hills Region our products are available in local shops, restaurants, cafes, roadside stalls, at the Grove and through various charities or community groups we support.
Bald Hills Olive Grove is located on 30 acres near Laratinga Creek in the Adelaide Hills, which Robert and Anama Rees purchased on a whim in the late 1980s. The Rees’ felt it was an opportunity just too charming to pass up. Rob and Anama realised South Australia’s Mediterranean climate was perfect for growing olives, so in 1998 they planted around 400 trees. The grove now has over 600 trees including Frantoio, Pendolino and Kalamata varieties. The grove is farmed using minimal spray organic practices and hand picking.
The infused and traditional oils have a refreshing peppery, grassy taste. The olives are cold pressed extracting only pure extra virgin olive oil available in flagons, 750ml or 250ml bottles. In addition you can discover preserved olives, tapenades and hummus.
Their son farms legumes such as lentils and faba beans on Kangaroo Island. The chick peas come from a farm on Yorke Peninsula. With a rich flavour and heartily texture, these legumes are a great staple and perfect in curries and soups.
